Hello. My name is Gary Zullo (as if you couldn’t tell from the URL, right?)
I am 34 years old and I am a graduate of FSU where I earned two Bachelor of Science Degrees. One in Computer Science and the other in Mathematics. Once upon a time I was also a Music major as a trumpet performance student/candidate. In that time I was proud a member of the world famous Marching Chiefs from 1994 – 1997. So, to all my Marching Chiefs brothers and sisters I say, “MCADT!!!!”
Currently, I work for a steadily growing company that specializes in HR & Payroll software and HR/Payroll Saas. Ultimate Software is headquartered in sunny Weston Florida. At Ultimate I am a senior software engineer currently performing duties on the tax, tax-compliance and year-end portions of the product suite. Another interesting thing about Ultimate is the fact that in 2008 they were recognized as the best place to work (for a medium sized company in the US) and also the development team was recognized as #1.
I would consider myself a very motivated self-starter. Some of my hobbies include: writing and producing music (both traditional and electronic), creating artwork (mostly 3D and photographic) and even writing code on my own time. Yep! you read that right. I have written a few successful shareware applications that were both great learning experiences which can be found ColorPlus (written in C#/C++) and GetPix2PC (written in C# using two separate Canon SDKs). I have also written my own 3D photo-realistic rendering engine that I am very proud of. It was done using C++ and assembly to accomplish what I would like to think is quite realistic rendering output.
Lastly, I am a cancer survivor. I have stage IV Peripheral T-Cell Lymphoma. I was originally diagnosed in Oct of 2007 (for a grand total of two hours), and officially (re)diagnosed in May of 2009. I will begin chemotherapy treatment on June 9th, 2009. I am a survivor because I am determined not to let this beat me. I am not defined by this disease; I can redefine the terms. I am not giving up any time soon simply because I have too much to live for (my wife and my son) and too many milestones left to reach. Please read more about my type of cancer on its dedicated page here!
As Always, please feel free to view my artwork portfolio online. It’s always nice to gain perspective from new viewers like you and contact me anytime if you like my work or would like something custom done!
If you want/need someone to talk to about anything art/3d/programming/cancer related I am here, just initiate a conversation with me; I’m nice…mostly
